James "Jim" Paul Geiger, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 4, 1949, in Melbourne, Florida, to Edith (Johns) and Holland P. Geiger.
Jim graduated from Englewood High School in 1968. During his high school years, he played football, being chosen for the All City and All State Championships. In 1968, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force to proudly serve his country in England and North Dakota. In 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Kathy Nichols. Jim then served with the Jacksonville Fire Department for 33 years.
Jim was an active member of River City Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and spent countless hours volunteering for different ministries. Jim had a servant's heart and faithfully served the Lord with gladness. He also loved building things and coaching at Arlington Little League.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn N. Geiger; sons, Casey (Courtney), Christopher, and Jay; sister, Janet Hartney (Chris); and two nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held at River City Baptist Church, 6801 Merrill Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32277, on October 3, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Jim's Life at 11:00 a.m. Lunch reception is to follow.
