James "Pete" Eldon Howard, age 84, of St. George, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. He was born on May 3, 1940, in Sterrett, Alabama, to Sula Allene (Whitfield) and Ervin Howard. Pete and his wife, Jean moved from Jacksonville to Charlton County in 2008. He was an avid outdoorsman. Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing, gunsmithing, collecting knives, reading, and playing his guitar. He owned parking lots in downtown Jacksonville as well as other real estate. Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pam Renee Howard; and sister, Glenda Sue Howard. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Alma Jean Howard of St. George; daughter, Tammie Godbold (Rhett) of Macclenny; and grandson, James Garrett Howard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Elder Kyle Lloyd officiating. Interment in Macedonia Cemetery will follow.
