James Charles McGovern, age 81, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Magnolia Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville. Jim, as he was known, was born on August 2, 1942, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Catherine (Dunn) and Eugene McGovern. Jim lived here in Baker County for the past four years after a considerable time living out West. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and "PopPop" to his grandkids. When he lived in California, one of his favorite pastimes was sport fishing on his boat in the Pacific Ocean. Jim was a successful business executive, finishing his career with Corona Clipper Company. He enjoyed retirement very much. Jim was a remarkable man with a wonderful sense of humor and he left an indelible memory in the hearts of his family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved cousin, Pat Gable. Survivors include Jim's soulmate of 39 years, his wife, Donna McGovern; his sons, James E. McGovern (Kim) and Matthew N. McGovern (Cathy); his grandchildren, Alexandra, Maddelin, Dawson, and Conner; his cousins Mary Ann, Erin, and Jaden; and sisters-in-law, Mary-Kay, Ellen (John), and Carole (Franklyn).  He will be missed forever and ever.
