Hubert "Gene" Eugene Burnsed, age 68, of Hilliard, Florida, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 26, 1953, in Baxter to Mary Lou (Yonn) and the late Hubert Enoch Burnsed. A veteran of the United States Army, Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed serving the citizens of Nassau County while he worked for the Nassau County Road Department. After retirement, Gene spent most of his time traveling and camping in his RV. Gene is survived by his wife of 28 years, Angela "Jenny" V. Burnsed of Hilliard; son, Brandon Burnsed (Martine) of Norwood, Massachusetts; daughters, Angie O'Brien of Hollywood and Ashley Berry (Josh) of Lake City; mother, Mary Bowlin of Baxter; brother, Derrick Burnsed (Cindy) of Glen St. Mary; sister, Debbie Cooper of Baxter; and 6 grandchildren. A Celebration of Gene's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Baxter Community Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hodges officiating.
