Joel Harrell
February 18, 1956 – July 17, 2024
Grady "Joey" Joel Harrell, age 68, of Macclenny, Florida, went to join his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on February 18, 1956, in Douglas, Georgia, to Gladys (Corbitt) and Miles H. Harrell. Joey was a kind, wonderful, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He worked for the Anchor Glass Container Corporation in Jacksonville and retired after 26 years. In his off time, Joey enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and gardening. Aside from his family, his biggest passion was for the Boy Scouts of America. Joey loved being with the kids and teaching them different skills. He had been an assistant Scout Master for Troop 555 and a committee member for the Cub Scout Family Pack 555 for over 10 years. Joey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne and Jimmie Harrell; and nephew, Henry Harrell. Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years, Ann Harrell of Macclenny; son, Michael "Jody" Harrell (Cyndi) of Macclenny; daughter, Ashley Bertram (Jared) of Fort Valley, Georgia; brother, Henry Harrell (Sheila) of Jacksonville; sister, Mary Franise Johns (Rick) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Megan Martin (Robbie), Joel Harrell (Kiley), Emma Harrell, Ryan Harrell, Sean Harrell, Peter Harrell, Asher Jay, Evie Bertram, and Grant Bertram; great-grandchildren, Teddy Martin and Miya Martin; nieces, Garri Plemmons and Angie Johns; nephews, Tony Harrell and Kenneth Harrell; two great nieces and one great nephew; along with numerous other family members and friends. A Celebration of Joey's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joey's name to The Boy Scouts Pack 555 and mailed to the care of Heather Fraze, 175 N. 4th Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063.
