Gloria E. Godwin, age 80, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Haven Hospice Custead Care Center in Orange Park. She was born on  October 3, 1943, in Jacksonville to Nathaniel Lester and Ollie Mae (Bornstein) Cannon and has lived in Maxville all her life. She was a loving mother, granny, great-granny, great-great-granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Granny Gloria devoted her time to the care of her family, especially spoiling the grandbabies. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Nathan Cannon and Bruce Cannon; daughter, Jeannie Marie Godwin; grandsons, Brandon "Bucket" Godwin and Corey "Dagan" Godwin-Parks; and her beloved husband of 60 years, Willie Godwin. Survivors include her sons, Bill Godwin of Maxville, Keith Godwin (Renee) of Live Oak, and Bryan "Bubby" Padgett Godwin of Tennessee; brother, Mike Cannon of Maxville; sister, Helen Austin (Wilbur) of Lawtey; grandchildren, Terri, Kristy, Jason, Jamee, and Haley; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Freddie Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery in Maxville. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
