Gerard "Jerry" Thomas Propster, age 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, following a courageous fight with an acute illness. Born on October 5, 1941, in Norfolk, Virginia, Jerry was the son of Gerard H. and Lucille (Robinson) Propster. Jerry had a notable career, serving 21 years in the United States Navy. Jerry also retired from Naval Aviation Depot Jacksonville with 23 years of service. In his retirement, he spent 14 years working with Duval Ford Government Fleet Services, pursuing his passion and finding tremendous fulfillment. Jerry had been a resident of Jacksonville since 1974, attending West Jacksonville Baptist Church (formerly known as Normandy Baptist Temple) for the last 45 years. He was an active member serving the Lord and working alongside several ministries. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Propster.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Edwina Propster; sons, Richard Propster and Clinton Thomas; daughters, Teresa Bailey (Pete) and Joyce Davidson; brother, Robert Propster (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Margaret Cummings; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Interment with military honors will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at West Jacksonville Baptist Church, 5634 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida, with Tommy Young officiating.
