IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eva Mae
Hodges Willis
May 14, 1940 – February 2, 2026
Eva Mae Willis, age 85, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Macclenny Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Glen St. Mary on May 14, 1940, one of five children to Florie Mae (Combs) and Edward Hodges. Ms. Willis was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who had a fascinating history. She was a 1958 graduate of Baker County High School, proudly served our nation in the US Marine Corps, and retired after working over 35 years as an underwriter with the Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company. After retirement, she could have sat back and relaxed, but she went on to attend Lake City Community College and earn a degree in computer programming. She then split her time between working for Northeast Florida Telephone Company and serving as Captain of Baker County Fire Station #50 in Glen St. Mary. That alone would be enough for a couple of people, let alone one. To all of that, add the fact that Ms. Eva was an accomplished photographer, a dancer with the Bear Country Cloggers, a frequent supporter/visitor of the Jacksonville Zoo, and a Walt Disney World aficionado. She was truly an example of how to live life to the fullest. Ms. Eva was also proud of her American Indian heritage and loved to attend Pow-Wows. And she had strong love and trust for her family and took pride in their accomplishments. Eva was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son, William Glenn Willis (Lynda) of Glen St. Mary; brother, Vanis Hodges (Sarah) of Glen St. Mary; sisters, Evelyn Holland, Roxie Jones, both of Macclenny, and Joyce Davis of Jacksonville; grandson, Mathew; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Brendan, and Sarah; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Manntown Congregational Holiness Church with Pastor Jimmy Scott officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Manntown Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the dedicated care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806.
