Mr. Elijah "E.D." David Higginbotham, age 93, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at St. Vincent's Clay after a brief illness. He was born on October 11, 1928, to Buford Monroe and Janie R. (Carter) Higginbotham in Maxville, where he had lived all his life. Mr. Higginbotham was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He retired from logging and carpentry and enjoyed hunting and fishing. E.D. loved holding hands and sitting on the front porch with his love, Toria. He had the best sense of humor and truly adored his family. E.D. was preceded in death by his parents; sons, David Higginbotham and Douglas Higginbotham; brothers, Elmer D. Higginbotham and James C. Higginbotham; and sisters, Lois Waters and Merle English. Survivors include his beloved wife of 73 years, Toria Virginia Higginbotham; sons, Gary Higginbotham, John Higginbotham (Kathy), and Steve Higginbotham (Diane); sister, Joyce Schmehl; niece, Patty Hollifield; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Baldwin Church of God with Pastor Larry Thornton and Pastor Danny Music officiating.
