Obituary

Edward Jay Stevenson, age 70, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He was born on August 7, 1954, in Sarasota, Florida, to Adria Deloria (Prentice) and Edward John Stevenson. Ed was a 1973 graduate of Venice High School. He spent 20 years living in Laurel, Florida, working as an experienced concrete contractor, specializing in driveways, patios, and sidewalks. Ed then got his CDL and began driving trucks for C&S Grocers. He moved to Baker County in 2004 and continued to drive with C&S Grocers until his retirement. For the past several years, he had been a driver with the Council on Aging. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ed was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who loved the Lord, his family, and church family. He enjoyed serving others and participated in numerous mission trips to Haiti, as well as volunteering with Carpenters for Christ. Ed liked scuba diving and, as a dedicated Civil War buff, he was eager to connect with fellow enthusiasts to share stories and keep history alive for future generations. He was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Frank Monsky; and beloved wife of 46 years, Loretta Elizabeth Stevenson. Survivors include his sons, Larry Stevenson of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Robert Stevenson of Ashland, Kentucky; daughter, Krista Stevenson of Roanoke, Virginia; brother, Allen Monsky (Sheila) of Danbury, Connecticut; grandson, Joshua; along with his church and work family. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the dedicated care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL & CREMATION, 380 N.
