Dorothy Mae Johnson, age 95, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Community Hospice Douglas Center for Caring after a brief illness. She was born to Rutha Bell (Ellison) and Logan Durance Sellers in Jacksonville on April 18, 1928, and remained there all her life. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Johnson devoted her life to caring for her family and others. She expressed her love through her sweet, nurturing, giving spirit. A true definition of a Servant's Heart, Dorothy adored the Lord and her church family. She was a longtime member of Promised Land Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed being around people and being involved with the community. As such, she was a member of the Red Hats Society and Past President of Baker County Garden Club. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leo, Buddy, and Andrew; sisters, Pearl, Marion, Janelle, and Elaine; son, Richard Johnson; and her beloved husband of 48 years, Daniel Drew Johnson. Survivors include her sons, Ronald Johnson of Jacksonville and Terry Johnson (Belinda) of Clay Hill; daughters, Diana Bulmer (Robert "Bob") of Orange Park and Brenda Bridger (Harold) of Jacksonville; brother, Larry Sellers (Barbara) of Commerce, Georgia; sisters, Lydia Johnson-Oaks of Jacksonville, Alice Starling of Hilliard, and Debrah Martin of Sevierville, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Promised Land Baptist Church, 10343 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, with Pastor Steve Whitcomb and Reverend Bob Bulmer officiating. Interment will follow in Sellers Cemetery on Halsema Road. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
