Obituary

Mrs. Donna Jean Hurst Cannon, age 77, a lifelong resident of Live Oak, Florida, was escorted Home on Friday, February 4, 2022, by her beloved husband, Jimmy, just three days after he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. She was born on November 10, 1944, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, to Sidney James and Lois (Pearson) Hurst. Donna Jean was a beloved wife, mother, Granny and Nanny Cannon, sister, aunt, and friend. Her home church was Friendship Baptist Church. Donna Jean enjoyed watching movies and spending time with her family. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, and shopping. She and her husband worked hard and saved to buy her childhood homeplace where they raised their family on Cannon Farm. Donna Jean worked for herself in Home Healthcare as a CNA. She was a loving caretaker for countless families throughout her career. She had recently moved to Salem, Florida, with Jimmy to their "Garden of Eden." Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her parents; devoted and loving husband, James "Jimmy" David Cannon; daughter, Tena Cannon Cashmore; and brother, Rudolph Hurst. She is survived by her children, Tammy Lee of McAlpin, Kim Warren (Terrie) of Jasper, Tonya Lee (Frank) of Live Oak, Shuandra Perbtani of Live Oak, Davy Cannon (Pam) of Salem, and Carol Cannon of Texas; brother, Ray Hurst of Live Oak; sister, Frances Folsom of Mayo; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Friendship Baptist Church, 14634 140th Street, Live Oak, Florida 32060 with Pastor James "Davy" D. Cannon Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
