Donald Ray Vanosdol, age 90, of St. Cloud, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at AdventHealth Kissimmee under the care of Gentiva Hospice. He was born to Susie (Cooley) and William "Bill" E. Vanosdol on September 5, 1934, in Waynesboro, Mississippi. Don was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Don and his wife, Monnette, own and operated D&M Trucking & Timber Harvesting along with D/V Ranch. Ranching had his heart, but Don poured his soul into the logging business. He had dedicated 79 years of his life to working in the woods logging when he started with his uncle at the age of 11 and had been actively working up until 8 weeks ago. Don never met a stranger and always made everyone feel loved and welcomed. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed both fresh and saltwater fishing. He spent a lot of time deep sea fishing in the Atlantic off the coast of Ft. Pierce. He was one of the good ones and will be vastly missed by those who knew and loved him. Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean Vanosdol; sister, Jewel Vanosdol Moore; stepmother, Purdie Vanosdol; stepsister, Rubynell Jurnigan; and stepbrothers, L.J. Cooley, T.L. Cooley, and Benny Cooley. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Toni "Monnette" Vanosdol of St. Cloud; son, Lawrence "Neal" Vanosdol (Amy) of St. Cloud; daughter, Penny Vanosdol Dickerson of Kissimmee; stepsisters, Lumell Catlet of Arkansas and Virginia Smith of Mississippi; along with his large extended Padgett family of numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored him, and he felt the same way about them. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church, 5203 CR 795, Live Oak, Florida 32063, with Johnny Reb Padgett officiating. Interment in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery will follow. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806.
