David E. Ray Sr., age 65, of Taylor, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside after an extended illness. He was born on April 20, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Irene (Grants) and Thomas Ray and lived in Baker County all his life. David was a devoted husband and doting father who enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and farming. He was a veteran of the United States Army and recently earned his black belt in martial arts. David not only spoiled his family (especially Mrs. Priscilla) but his cats and his dog, Malibu. You will not find a bigger heart bursting with more love and adoration than Mr. David's. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeff Ray; and sister, Bonnie Ray-Payne. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Priscilla Ray of Taylor; his sons, David Ray Jr. of Tallahassee and Thomas Ray of Ormond Beach; brother, Steve Ray (Robin) of Macclenny; sister, Tina Ray of Connecticut; sisters-in-law, Freida Myers (Steve), Rita Healey (Richard), Frankie Hadaway (Mike), and Anita Bradley (Terry); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at The Lord's Church in Taylor with Pastor Bobby Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery.
