Curtis Eugene Sexton, age 62, of Baxter, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at UF Shands in Jacksonville after a brief illness. He was born on August 26, 1961. Gene moved from Hilliard to Baker County 7 years ago. He was an amazing stepfather, step-grandfather, and friend who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He loved his dogs like they were his kids. Gene had a gentle way about him that made folks feel welcome. His gentle spirit will remain in his family's hearts until they are reunited again. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Archie Yonn. Survivors include his soul mate, Debbie Dukes of Baxter; stepdaughters, Felicia Fisette of Sanderson and Amanda Corbitt (David) of Keystone Heights; step-son, Ronnie Hewett (Rebecca) Traphill, North Carolina; step-grandchildren, Jayston, Richard, Haley, Chris, Adam, Lary, Dom, Ethan, Legan, Anthony and Raiden; along with his "fur babies," Cotton, Peanut, Cash, and Pretty Penny. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Baxter Community Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hodges officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made directly to the funeral home or online under the donation tab to help with funeral expenses.
