Obituary

Mrs. Charlotte Johns Slack, age 90, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Jacksonville on May 4, 1934, to William Scott and Rosebud (Peavy) Johns. Mr. and Mrs. Slack moved to Baker County five years ago to be close to their daughter. Charlotte worked as a Verifying Agent with Independent Life Insurance Company before she retired and was a member of First Baptist Church of Macclenny. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Affectionately known to many as "Baba," Charlotte loved Jesus, her family, and Donald J. Trump with all her heart. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Carl Ray Slack; beloved son-in-law, Jimbo Fletcher; and siblings, Betty, Buddy, Donald, Hickory, and Patty Ann. She is survived by her son, Ray Alan Slack of Jacksonville; daughter, Cathy Ann Fletcher of Macclenny; grandchildren, James Tyler "Ty" Fletcher and William "Wil" Wiley Fletcher (Kasey); great-granddaughters, Aubree Ann Fletcher and Bowie Jean Fletcher; her best four-legged friend, Molly Belle; along with other family members and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Taylor Cemetery with Pastor John Schutz officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charlotte's name to First Baptist Church of Macclenny.
