Obituary

Charles Edward Hatcher, age 83, of Hatcherville, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. He was born in Middleburg on March 29, 1943, to the late Edward and Leona (Padgett) Hatcher.
Charles was a true man of the woods, spending many years as a dedicated pulp wooder. He knew the woods and the forestry of Clay County better than anyone. He spent most days operating his chainsaw and skidder, and making many trips to the mills, all while taking pride and providing for his family through hard work.
Charles was known for his unwavering strength, that one of a kind laugh, and contagious smile. Charles never met anyone who was a stranger. They all knew him, no matter where he went.
Charles was rarely seen without his guitar in hand when not in the woods. He enjoyed singin' and pickin' around a good fire with family and friends. He always had a good joke to tell and always enjoyed a good scratch off ticket as he never rarely lost. Back in the day, he enjoyed the dog track like most did in that time, and it was always a gathering of sorts for friends alike.
Charles was preceded in death by his wives, Linda Luke Hatcher and Nina Mae Ayers Hatcher; daughter, Cyndi "Hopper" Harris; brother, David "Tex" Hatcher Sr.; and sisters, Rosalee Hamilton, Clara Mae Jeffers, Carolyn Durden, Ida Mae Jeffers, and Thelma Carter. He is survived by his current wife, Joyce Hatcher; children Tammy (Larry) Davis, Sandra Wiggins, and Bert (Diana) Jimmison; grandchildren Josh and Cody Davis, Ryan and Justin Wiggins, Cierra and Garet Jimmison, Chase Harris, and Kenny DeGolyer; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Leia, Melinda, Anthony, Kyler, Levi and Emmett Davis, Henry Wiggins, Haizlee Mae and Levi Mcleod; great-great-grandchildren, Hayden Harris, Luna Pilgram, and Ember Rowe; sisters, Linda (Don) Renyolds, Phillajoy (Erby) Brown, Judy (Randy) Young and Janice Stevens; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Black Pond Baptist Church in Middleburg with Pastor Mark Sellers officiating. Interment will follow in Peoria Cemetery in Orange Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements entrusted to the dedicated care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806.
