Charles "Gene" Eugene Hobson Sr., age 79, of Sanderson, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Macclenny Nursing and Rehab Center. He had the privilege of being born in Bluefield, West Virginia, on December 25, 1945. Gene was one of two sons of Gladys (Buchanan) and Edgar Lee Hobson. He had lived in Baker County for the past 20 years. Gene was a kind and attentive father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed being outdoors hunting or fishing, Florida Gator football, and spending as much time as he could with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Hobson. Survivors include his sons, Charlie Hobson Jr. (Melaney) of Lake Butler and Thomas Edgar Hobson of Sanderson; grandchildren, Tres Hobson III (Melanie) of Jasper, Georgia, Jonathan, Nate, and Grace Hobson, of Lake Butler; great-grandchildren, T. J., Winona, and Myles Hobson, all of Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Troy King officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
