Charles Edward Barber Jr., age 76, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1948, in Jacksonville to Floy Elizabeth (Estes) and Charles Edward Barber Sr. Ed was a graduate of Baker County High School, Class of 1967. After high school, he attended college before being drafted into the U.S. Army, where in Vietnam, he served his country with honor. Upon returning home, he continued his education, earning a master's degree in biology from the University of West Florida. A lifelong resident of Baker County, Ed was deeply committed to his community. He served in civic organizations such as the Rotary Club and held leadership roles in local municipal efforts, including serving as chairman of the BCCMC. His dedication to the outdoors and environmental stewardship led him to establish his own business, EBA Environmental Consulting. Ed was a man of many talents: scientist, entrepreneur, builder, but most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed spending time in nature, hunting, and sharing his love for the outdoors with others. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Thomas "Tommy" Barber; and his sister, Mildred Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Cherry Davis Barber; his son, Samuel Barber of Macclenny; his daughter, Sarah Good (Christopher) of Fleming Island; his daughter-in-law, Malissa Barber of Macclenny; his brother, Stacey R. Barber of Macclenny; and his grandchildren: Garrett, Caroline, Olivia, Charles, Nicholas, and Natalie. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cherished lifelong friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Christian Fellowship Temple, with Pastor David Thomas and Justin Griffis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL & CREMATION, 380 N.
