Catherine Patricia Maestas Udell, age 87, of Baldwin, Florida, went home to Jesus on Friday, December 27, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 23, 1937, in Pensacola and was the daughter of Willie Ruth (Harris) and Tommy A. Maestas. Mrs. Catherine had lived for over 40 years in Jacksonville before moving to the Baldwin area 10 years ago. Catherine was a skilled homemaker; she loved sewing, ceramics, cake decorating, cooking, baking, floral decorating, and many other types of creative things. "Mammy," as she was known by the family, was instrumental in the raising of her grandchildren, greatly influencing their growth and who they would become, teaching them to be kind, loving and caring. She was a "safe place." Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg Udell; her beloved husband of 50 years, Al Udell; brother, Joe Watson; and sister, Hermie Jean Watson. Survivors include her daughter, Shaun Kunnmann of Baldwin; "honorary" daughter, Gina Harris of Pensacola; sisters, Jewel Clark of Orlando and Gwen Willis of Pace, Florida; grandchildren, Mindy Edwards (Sean) of Virginia, Tommy Kunnmann, Tiffany Brack (Matt), Stephanie Phillips (Tanner), and Michelle Atkins (Michael), all of Florida; great-grandchildren, Juliana Mawyer (Morgan), Kyle Durrette, Alex Edwards, Mika Atkins, Alaina Phillips, Noah Phillips, and Brody Brack; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members who will miss her unique wit. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at West Shores Baptist Church with Brother Dewey Cox officiating.  Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville.
