Brian E. Bruce, age 60, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was born on July 31, 1965, to James Rex Bruce and Jeanne Pinkerton in San Bernardino, California, but spent most of his life in Jacksonville. Brian was most recently a member of Promise Land Baptist Church, but had been a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church. He very much enjoyed singing praises to the Lord through solos and duets. Mr. Bruce attended W.T. Woodson High School and Victor Valley College. He enjoyed coaching in the Varsity football program of Cedar Creek Christian School locally and played both football and baseball in his early life. He also worked for Bank of America (formerly Barnett Bank and Nations Bank) as a security guard for several years. Brian was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his devoted wife of 20 years, Julie Coffield Bruce; sons, James Bruce and Rayce Smallwood; daughters, Amber Miller (Eric) and Katelyn Smallwood; grandchildren, Carl and Maverick; sister, Shari Bruce; nieces, Cathleen Walters, Rebecca Anderson-Bettis and Faith Graves; nephew, Oliver Martin; 7 great nieces and nephews; along with several other family members and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Promise Land Baptist Church, 10343 Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville with Pastor Steve Whitcomb officiating.
