In Loving Memory of Beverly Jeane Thomas

On August 8, 2026, Heaven became just a little brighter and undoubtedly a little funnier as Beverly Jeane Thomas entered the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Born on July 14, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Willie Gene Dorminey and Mary Geraldine Dorminey. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and one of her dearest lifelong friends, Christine Deboyd, whom she often spoke of and longed to see again. We can only imagine the reunion they shared.
For fifty wonderful years, Beverly walked hand in hand through life with the love of her life, her husband, Ralph “Michael” Thomas. Through every mountaintop and valley, every celebration and every storm, they built a marriage rooted in love, faith, laughter, and unwavering commitment.
She is survived by their two daughters, Michelle Wallstedt (Brian) and Amy Jello (TJ). She also leaves behind the sons and daughters she loved as her own and who lovingly called her “Mom,” including sons Brian Thomas and Dustin David (Tasha), and daughter Cayse Thrift. While Beverly was an incredible wife and mother, everyone knew the title she treasured most was “Nanny.”
Jacob Wallstedt (Alyssa), Jesslyn Wallstedt, and Cody Jello weren’t simply her grandchildren—they were her heart walking around outside her body. She loved them fiercely, prayed for them constantly, celebrated every accomplishment, and somehow always found a reason to spoil them just a little more. They were, without question, one of God’s greatest gifts to her. She was also blessed with the joy of becoming a great-grandmother to Brooklyn.
She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Green, and her brother, David Dorminey. As the middle child, Beverly shared a lifelong bond with her siblings that was filled with laughter, traditions, and countless memories. Her sister, Phyllis, wasn’t just family—she was also her partner in many adventures, including caring for the flock of chickens that earned Beverly the beloved nickname, “The Chicken Lady.” Between the two of them, there were roughly thirty-six chickens to tend to. To most people, that sounds like a lot of work. To Beverly, it was simply another reason to smile.
To another generation, she was known simply as “Aunt Boo-Boo,” a title she wore proudly. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, Summer Echt (Philip), along with their children, Chloe, Jack, Abel, and Liam, and Leah Carlson and her daughter, Penelope, who adored her Aunt Boo-Boo. Every one of them knew Aunt Boo-Boo’s love, laughter, and ability to make any gathering a little more entertaining.
Beverly also treasured the friendships God placed in her life. Among those especially dear to her was her beloved friend Robin Gill, as well as Charlie and Donna Robinson, who were among Beverly and Mike’s dearest friends. Their friendship, love, laughter, and many shared memories held a special place in Beverly’s heart and in the life she and Mike built together.
Beverly spent her career serving adults with developmental disabilities as a Medicaid Provider for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). She devoted her life to helping others live independently with dignity, compassion, and encouragement. Beverly had an unforgettable sense of humor. She was quick-witted, delightfully sarcastic, and had impeccable comedic timing. She loved making people laugh and had a gift for finding humor even in life’s most difficult seasons.
Beverly had life figured out long before the rest of us.
Celebrate the little things.
Never wait for a special occasion.
Eat dessert first.
Because, after all…
“There’s always a good reason to have cake.”
Her favorite was German chocolate cake, but to Beverly, cake was never really about dessert. It was about celebrating life, making memories, gathering around the table, and reminding everyone not to wait for the “big moments” to find joy. Celebrate the little victories. Laugh often. Enjoy the people around you. Life isn’t promised tomorrow, so don’t wait to celebrate today.
She loved spending Saturdays wandering through yard sales and never passed up the opportunity to enjoy a good meal with the people she loved.
Beverly was a faithful member of True Faith Christian Fellowship in Callahan, Florida, where she loved serving in the Ladies Ministry. She never hesitated to tell someone what God had done in her life. Throughout her battle with pancreatic cancer, she continued sharing her testimony of God’s faithfulness. While others often saw the diagnosis, Beverly chose to point people toward the Deliverer.
She wasn’t defined by cancer.
She was defined by Christ.
Even during the hardest days, she reminded those around her that God was still good.
If Beverly could leave each of us with one final message, it wouldn’t be long or complicated.
She’d grin, tell us there’s no reason to cry for too long, remind us that God is still in control…
…and then ask who was bringing the cake.
Beverly leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by years lived, titles held, or even the courageous battle she fought. Her legacy is found in every life she encouraged, every laugh she inspired, every testimony she shared, every hug she gave, every grandchild she adored, every person she served, and every reminder that God’s goodness is worth talking about.
Her family will forever miss her laughter, her quick wit, her sparkle, her stories, her faith, and the unconditional love she poured into each of them.
Although our hearts are broken, Heaven has gained a joyful soul who has finally heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
So today, and every day after, honor Beverly the way she would have wanted.
Love Jesus.
Love your family.
Laugh often.
Buy the sparkly thing if it makes you smile.
Never pass up a good yard sale.
Eat dessert first.
And remember…
There’s always a good reason to have cake.

Beverly will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at True Faith Christian Fellowship in Callahan, Florida. The date and time will be announced once her cremated remains have been returned and arrangements have been finalized.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to the dedicated care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806.
