Betty Jean Padgett, age 77, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 11, 1948, in Clay Hill, one of five children to Minnie Lee (Mosley) and Ottis Padgett. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed shopping, sewing, being outdoors, fishing, and hunting. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and loved her church family as much as her own. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Loren Padgett and John Henry Padgett; and beloved husband of 56 years, Elijah "Billy" Padgett. Survivors include her son, William E. Padgett (Sara) of Brooker; daughter, Leann Wilber (Clay) of Middleburg; brothers, Larry Padgett (Vikkie) of Live Oak and Charles Padgett (Kathy) of Middleburg; grandchildren, Bucky Williams, T.J. Williams, Jamie Blue, Peyton Padgett, and Sarah Gail Padgett; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Long Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Harry Conaway officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
