Betty June Hitt, age 91, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 4, 2024, under the care of Community Hospice. Betty was born to Helen E. (Sattler) and Harold F. Burgdorf in Huntingburg, Indiana, on January 13, 1933. She was a member of Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church since moving to the area in 2011 to be closer to family. Betty was a fun, loving, and devoted woman of God. She loved to travel, quilt, and paint. Betty was a member of the Ivy Cottage Craft Guild and was a Championship Bowler. Later in life, she earned her Associate of Science Degree in Accounting. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 57 years, Loyd E. Hitt, Jr., daughter Frances Hitt, and granddaughter Lydia Pons. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Masterson (Daniel) of Macclenny and Sandy Fletcher (Tom) of Bessemer, Alabama; a double cousin, Connie Rademacher of Huntingburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Sarah Sanders (Aaron) of St. George, Georgia, Laura Reavis (Daniel) of Macclenny, Amanda Murphy (Chris) of Flowery Branch, Georgia, D.L. Masterson (Erin) of Glen St. Mary, Hannah Warren (Jimmy) of Statesboro, Georgia, Shannon Bowers (Todd) of Woodstock, Georgia, Cameron Fletcher (Emily) of Sanderson, and Thomas Fletcher (Bethany) of Livingston, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Chloe Rungruang, Cooper Rungruang, Taylor Bowers, RiIey Rungruang, Haley Bowers, Jaxon Fletcher, Rebecca Reavis, Woodrow Reavis, Grace Masterson, Calla Rungruang, J.D. Pons, Maegan Murphy, Aubrey Bowers, Faith Masterson, Morgan Pons, Azzilee Reavis, Maggie Murphy, Ryan Pons, Liam Masterson, Rhett Warren, Wally Pons, Raif Warren, and Theodore Fletcher. Funeral services for Mrs. Hitt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Michael Green and David Crawford officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
