Betty Sue Goff Stalnaker, age 72, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Haven Hospice Custead Care Center in Orange Park after an extended illness. She was born on July 12, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida, one of four daughters of Lillie Mae (Lacquey) and William Howell Goff. Betty was a high school softball player and a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1971. She grew up in Jacksonville, living there for 22 years before moving to Ft. White for a time. She then moved to Baker County 47 years ago. Betty was a devoted wife, caring mother, and wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, canning, and working in her yard. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters, Alice Gail Lloyd, Moddy Gay Webster, and Sara "Peanut" Nell Thrift. Survivors include her beloved husband of 47 years, Hurbert "Earl" Stalnaker of Glen St. Mary; children, Willie Alligood (Alicia) of Jacksonville, Julie Wilkerson (Ernie George) of Glen St. Mary, and Steve Stalnaker of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Christian, Jennifer, Maddie, Christopher, and Amy Lee; and great-grandchildren, Anna Marie, Ace, and Lio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in O'Brien, Florida.
