Mrs. Barbara Green Stansell, age 81, of Lake Butler, Florida passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020, at Windsor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Starke after an extended illness. She was born on November 6, 1938, in Macclenny, Florida to Shannon and Maggie (Davis) Green and was raised in Sanderson where she lived for 56 years before moving to Lake Butler. Barbara worked for the State of Florida for 24 years and retired as a Corrections Officer. Affectionally known as Memaw, she loved to bake pecan pies, crochet blankets, make flower arrangements, and play Bingo. She loved the Gators and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford since 2007. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie Green, Ray Green, Lawrence Green, and Frank Green; son, Robert L. Newmans; and her beloved husband of 21 years, Kenneth Stansell. She is survived by her sister, Mattie Dowling of Taylor; grandsons, Robert L. Newmans (Chrissa) of Macclenny, James A. Newmans (Alexis) of Louisiana, and Joshua A. Newmans (Andrea) of Sanderson; daughter-in-law, Tina Stone (Elton) of Glen St. Mary; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; along with other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford with Pastor Herald Hudson officiating. Burial in South Prong Cemetery in Sanderson will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
