Mr. Aurbie Kincaid Hires, Sr., age 68, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, after an extended illness at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. He was born on September 24, 1950, in Taylor, Florida to Aurbie and Annie (Griffis) Hires and had resided in Baker County all his life. Mr. Hires retired as a mechanic with FGE Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, FSU Football, and racing. Mr. Hires was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joanne Arguelles, Isaac Hires, Jerry Hires, and Cynthia Hires; great-granddaughter, Hadley Hatcher; and niece, Sheila Covenington. He is survived by his sons, Kenny Hires of Lake City, Ryan Carter (Monique) of Macclenny, David Hires (Anna) of Venice, and Tyler Hires of Macclenny; daughters, Kimberly Rafuse (Randy) of Macclenny, Lori Carter of Macclenny, and Aubree Hires of Macclenny; brothers, John Hires of Montana, and Wayne Hires of Montana; sisters, Kathleen Wilson of California, and Tosha Hires; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Leo Lanier officiating. Interment will follow in North Prong Cemetery.
