Ashleigh Marie Pope Schmidt, age 36, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, was embraced in the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was born in Tampa on September 30, 1988, to Kimberly Marie (Cernohorsky) and Jackie Lee Pope Jr. Ashleigh was homeschooled and graduated in 2006. She moved to Baker County from Valrico, Florida, six years ago, and loved fishing, hunting, and crafting with her girls. Ashleigh was always rescuing and helping animals of all types. Ashleigh had rededicated her life to Christ, was baptized on Easter this year, and was a member of New Life Church. She loved being with her girls and loved them with all her heart. Ashleigh was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Cernohorsky, and great-grandparents, Ralph and Carmen Alfonso. She leaves behind her loving parents, Pastor Jack and Kimberly Pope; beloved daughters, Carleigh Marie Pope and Chevee Hennessey Schmidt; husband, Timothy Schmidt; brothers, Steven Michael Pope and Austin Jackson Pope; grandmother, Kathleen Cernohorsky; grandparents, Lee and Jack Pope Sr.; great-grandparents, Doris and Jackson Pope; aunts and uncles, Jeff and Robin Bowden, Craig and Rita Karstens, Michael and Cyndi Pope, Keiko Longworthy, and Steve Cernohorsky; along with her cousins, other family members, and friends. A Celebration of Life honoring Ashleigh will held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at New Life Church with Bishop Jeff Poole officiating.
