Anthony "Tom" Louie Picras went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. He was born on December 5, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Mary (Kalogerakos) Picras and Louie Tony Picras. Tom spent most of his life in Jacksonville, where he was a member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church and attended North Jacksonville Church of God. He attended Landon High School, graduating in 1959. He graduated from Jacksonville University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. Tom spent several years serving as a juvenile parole officer, traveling throughout the State of Florida. He was also Director of Ranch Life at the Boys Ranch in Live Oak, Florida. In 1976, he returned to Jacksonville and became a well-respected, knowledgeable insurance agent, winning many awards. He loved fishing, snorkeling, scalloping, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He and his devoted wife traveled to various countries and U.S. states, including Hong Kong, Greece, Italy, and, memorably, Alaska. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bernadette Szabo Picras; son, Jason Matthew Picras; daughter, Anastasia Picras Bergen (Jeff); grandchildren, Ryker Bergen, Pierce Bergen, and Ellura Bergen; sister, Mary Lou Pace; along with nieces, cousins, and other family and friends. His admirable qualities were many, but his kindness towards others and his giving nature top the list. Tom's Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at North Jacksonville Church of God, 7600 Kenya Street, Jacksonville, with Pastor James A. Hull officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
