Anita Marie Callahan, age 71, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born in Jacksonville on November 12, 1953, one of five children to Ramona (Padgett) and Ronald Morgan Maxwell. Anita was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and great-aunt who enjoyed reading and exploring yard sales for hidden treasures. She loved being outdoors, camping, being at the beach, or tubing in the springs. She was deeply involved with the Girl Scouts of America and was once a Troop Leader. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Harvey Maxwell; sister, Rebecca Elaine Dragich; and her beloved husband of 29 years, William D. Callahan. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Lensch (Bert) of Statesboro, Georgia and Amanda Callahan (Tim Davis) of Macclenny; brother, Ronald Brian Maxwell (Courtney) of Jacksonville; sisters, Sharon A. Dolby-Kelly (Ben) of Macclenny and Jennifer Kuntz (Bill) of Gainesville; nieces and nephews, Will, Tyler, Joseph, Ronald Jr., Amber, Megan, and Claire; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
