Virginia Louise Padgett Murphy, age 73, of Live Oak, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Shands UF in Gainesville. Virginia was born in Statenville, Georgia, the eighth child out of fourteen to Robert and Katie (Law) Padgett. She was a 1963 graduate of Suwannee High School and a licensed cosmetologist. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, Mammaw, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was of the Baptist faith, and a gifted gardener with an incredible green thumb that could grow anything. She enjoyed her coffee, sweet tea, and crossword puzzles, but most of all, she LOVED her grandchildren. Her children and her family were the center of her world. She always knew what to say and gave the best hugs. To know her was to love her. Because of her, we are better people, and the world is a better place. We were lucky to have her in our lives and she will forever be in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, James Melvin Curry, III; and siblings, Homer Padgett, Sara Mae Burkett, and Shirley Padgett. Virginia is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Travis C. Murphy of Live Oak; her beloved children, Teresa Kirkpatrick (William) of Shelbyville, Indiana, Wendy Berndgen (Zack) of Havana, Travis Todd Murphy (Tammy) of Ludlow, Illinois, Michell Watson (Danny) of Live Oak, Jessie Chad Murphy (Melissa) of Santa Clarita, California, Tammy Murphy Robbins (Bobby) of Guntown, Mississippi, Shannon Murphy Curry (James) of Macclenny, and Shawn Murphy of Live Oak; cherished grandchildren, Jamie Watson Nobles (Brandon), Jordan Watson, Harley Mullins, Brett Murphy, Hope Robbins, Michael Curry, Madi Robbins, Megan Curry, Jamie Curry, Timothy Curry, Casey Curry, and Mckenzie Curry; siblings, Latain Spann, Juanita Butler, Bonnie Padgett (Wendy), Johnny Padgett (Sherry), Monnette Vanosdol (Don), Bob Padgett (Angie), Nannette Padgett, Katie C.
