Mrs. Peggy McLeod Plemmons, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She was born in Madison County, Florida on July 6, 1942, the oldest of six children to the late Andrew Pershing and Nellara Ettie (Lewis) McLeod.
Mrs. Plemmons spent her childhood in Madison County before acquiring her bachelor’s degree from FSU. She then moved to Jacksonville and taught ESE for most of her 38 years as a teacher with the Duval County School Board. Peggy was a godly woman. She was a member of Cedar Hills Baptist Church. She stayed busy volunteering with Boy Scouts of America and was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She loved God, her family, and taking care of people, especially her grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, James “Jim” Plemmons, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy McLeod of Jacksonville; son, James “Jimmy” B. Plemmons, III (Shelley) of Macclenny; sisters, Sherry Offenberg of Jacksonville, and Dianne Fredrick (Chuck) of Southport, North Carolina; grandchildren, Timothy Plemmons (Haleigh) and Shelby Johns (Matthew); along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Woods officiating a Celebration of Peggy’s Life at 11:00 AM.
