Ora Onie Stewart Starling, age 95, a lifelong resident of Macclenny, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Ora, who was affectionately known to many as “Tinkey” was born in Macclenny on June 5, 1923 to James and Bertha (Griffis) Stewart. Mrs. Starling was a homemaker for most of her life, but she also worked as a cook at Northeast Florida State Hospital until she retired. A member of Glen Friendship Tabernacle, she enjoyed cooking and lived for her children and family.
Tinkey was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 60 years, Henry Starling; and her cherished daughter, Patricia Green. She is survived by her loving sons, James “Pee Wee” Starling (Barbara) of Lawtey and Albert Starling (Donna) of Glen St. Mary; brother, William “Billy” Stewart (Verna) of Macclenny; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Glen Friendship Tabernacle, 10042 N. Clinton Avenue, Glen St. Mary, FL 32040. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Glen Friendship Tabernacle with Pastor Albert Starling officiating. Interment in Manntown Cemetery will follow.
