Millard Canaday, age 81, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born in Moniac, Georgia on October 1, 1938, to Ida (Stokes) and Roland Canaday. He served in the Army National Guard for many years and retired from JEA after 37 years as a water mechanic. Millard enjoyed his hobbies of watching his favorite football team the Georgia Bulldogs, antique cars, collecting Eagle figurines, and watching Westerns. My daddy had a kind soul and would help anybody if he could. He will be sorely missed by his wife, daughter, and loved ones.
Millard was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Willard Canaday; and his sisters, Ella Liddell, Mary Geiger, and Linda Canaday. Millard is survived by his better half of 52 years, Virginia Canaday of Maxville; Daddy’s little girl, Dorinda Canaday of Maxville; brother-n-law, Walter Liddell of Jacksonville; sister-n-law, Mickie Canaday of Moniac, GA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was like a father figure to some family members and a numerous amount of his daughter’s friends.
Family and friends will be received at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Reverend Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Long Branch Cemetery, 5500 Long Branch Cemetery Road, Jacksonville, FL 32234.
