Kayla Ann Hanks Forbes, age 30, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Kayla was born in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the daughter of Granville O. Hanks and Diana Lynn Albert and had lived in Baker County for the past 15 years. Kayla was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed the outdoor life, fishing, camping, and riding around singing to the music. But her greatest joy was spending time playing with her boys, putting a smile on their face at every opportunity. Kayla had a kind heart and a free spirit. She could put a smile on anyone's face and make the dullest of times fun. She will truly be missed by all.
Kayla was preceded in death by her brother, Aaron Shaffner. She is survived by her sons, Wyatt and Garrett Forbes; their father, Joseph Forbes; her father, Granville O. “Buddy” Hanks and mother, Rachel Hanks, all of Glen St. Mary; her mother, Diana L. Albert of Jacksonville; paternal grandparents, Otis E. and Charlotte Hanks of Hawthorne; maternal grandparents, Roy Albert and Leslie Swain of Fernandina; brothers, Brandon Hanks (Brittany), Jacob Shaffner, William Shaffner and Jonathan Hanks; sister, Elizabeth Taylor (Hunter) all of Glen St. Mary; and many close family members and friends.
A Celebration of Kayla’s Life will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in the chapel of Blackburn-Curry Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Vining officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until service time that evening.
