Mr. James “Jim” Burton Plemmons, Jr., age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018. He was born in Micanopy, Florida on January 20, 1941 to the late James Burton and Audrey Agnes (Brown) Plemmons.
Mr. Plemmons spent his childhood in the Gainesville area before joining the US Navy and moved to Jacksonville 51 years ago. Jim spent most of his working career as an insurance agent before eventually owning Plemmons’ Produce. To say he was an avid fisherman is an understatement. Jim loved to cook; he loved his family, and he was passionate about playing his guitar. That is a passion that was passed on to his grandson, Timothy.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy M. Plemmons of Jacksonville; daughter, Cindy McLeod of Jacksonville; son, James “Jimmy” B. Plemmons, III (Shelley) of Macclenny; grandchildren, Timothy and Shelby Plemmons; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Family will receive friends starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Woods officiating a Celebration of Jim’s Life at 11:00 AM.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL 32063. (904) 259-2806. Please sign the guestbook at www.blackburncurryfh.com.
