Jacob Roland Cope, Jr., age 74, of Macclenny, Florida went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019. Battling lung cancer and heart disease, Roland or “Bo” as his family called him passed on to glory just as he lived his life with hope and faith there was something better waiting on the other side. Born on Veterans Day, he joked, everybody got his birthday off. He loved his family, cows, dogs, and lotto. Swore he’d hit the big one one day and of course he had a list of loved ones he was going to share it with. He could answer 90% of all the jeopardy questions and never missed an episode if at all possible. A retired master carpenter from the Duval County school board, there was nothing he couldn’t fix. He was an imperfect perfectionist, always demanding only the best of himself and others.
Roland is survived by his wife Sheila, daughter Kim, son Chris and daughter in law Jenny. He was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, Krystle, Catherine, Clint, Hunter, Brittany, Troy, Logan, Abbey, Jordan, Madison, Myles, Luke and Taylor., one great-grandchild, Aurora, two brothers, Ben and Walter and four sisters, Joan, Janice, Annette, and Inez.
He truly will be missed.
A Celebration of Roland’s Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Thomas officiating.
