Mr. Edgar William Shook, age 73, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018. Known as “Shakey” or “Ed” to all who knew him, Mr. Shook retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer with VA 66, the Fighting Cocks, after 20 years of honorable service in June 1981. He had been a resident of Baker County since 1974. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, time spent with his children and grandchildren, and riding in the woods with his beloved terrier, Patches.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann “Bonnie” Shook in 2011. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, Dominic Lagonagro of White Lake, NY; brother, Stanley R. Shook; and two sisters, Clara Lorraine Horbak, and Jenny Lanza. He is survived by his son, Kenneth “Kenny” Shook with his wife Kristie of Glen St. Mary, FL; daughter, Bonnie LeAnne Esposito with her husband Charles A. Esposito, Esq. of Palm Coast, FL; sisters-in-law, Linda Lee Turnage Culpepper of Starke, FL, and widow of Stanley R. Shook, Veronica Shook of Mongaup Valley, NY; grandchildren: Samantha Lloyd (Cole) of Glen St. Mary, FL, Tiffany Braddock of Jacksonville, FL, Kayla Harper (Clint) of Shreveport, LA, Marissa Hilliard (Joshua) of Savannah, GA, and Petty Officer First Class Jacob Fillyaw of Lamore, CA; great grandchildren: Savannah, Braxton, Gemma, and Zachary; as well as his beloved companion, Patches. Many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends also survive him.
A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Thomas officiating.
