James Richard Brown Sr., age 70, of Sanderson, Florida, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was born in Saratoga Springs, New York, on November 16, 1953, to Susan Douberly Witt and Amos William Brown. Mr. Brown had lived in Baker County for the past 63 years. He was a hard-working father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors in nature. James loved his family dearly, and the time he spent with them was very precious to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother, with whom he was extremely close too, Dorrie Douberly, and his sister, Sherry Lanfear. Survivors include his wife, Linda Brown; sons, James R. “Bobo” Brown Jr., Gary Cummings, Daniel Brown, Billy Brown, and Nicholas Brown; daughters, Kathleen Estell, Susan Brown, Tina Vetter (Drew), Celine Brown (Jeremy Anderson), and Clarissa Hunter (Frank); brothers, Steven D. Brown and Keith Brown (Donna); sisters, Lynn M. Nettles (Roy), Mary L. Robinson, and Cindy Young (Mark); 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; along with cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Reverend Justin Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Douglas Cemetery in Lulu, Florida. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
